A part of former army premises near Rapotice definitely turned into prison with planned capacity of 450 prisoners in December 2008.

The new prison premises, situated in forest about 30 km west of Brno (Vysočina district), covers area of almost 100 ha. In September 2005 the whole area was handed over from the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Justice. The Rapotice area has belonged to the remand prison of Brno since 15.9.2005. It will serve as prison with supervision and control for total count of 430 convicts.

The construction works began in October 2007. The realization included not only building of new entry object and drive-in checkpoint, fencing and perimetry detection inside the restricted area, but also reconstruction of service and logistic buildings, transformer sub-station and employee lodging-house. The Imos company realized the construction works. Our company delivered the communication and low-voltage security technologies.

The largest volume of the contract composed structured cabling system (SCS), telephony and optical cabling. The security system backbone is based on electric security, communication, closed-circuit television, access control, firealarm and perimetry systems. Furthermore, there are additional systems installed: public address, intercom, master clock and master TV systems. Perimetry protection is accomplished by combination of mechanical barrier and electronic microwave, sonic, infrared and CCTV components. All systems are monitored at the operator's desk.

Due to the large number of installed systems and the necessity of easy and user-friendly control, all the technologies are integrated into the only superior control system. This system is implemented in the same environment as the control SW of security system control units. Most systems are integrated on software level. Less sophisticated systems, or systems, where fast response is crucial, are integrated using digital inputs and outputs. The supervising software runs on data server. All events generated by the integrated systems are saved in common event log.

Because of higher demands on security, an inseparable part of the contract was also instruction concerning contact between employees and prisoners during all working activities inside the prison premises.

Continuous 42 day trial run proved proper system functionality and consistency with the project. Documentation handover, security and user-service staff training and successful completion of the trial run finished the deal.
